WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Friends:

After a very successful and neighborhood friendly 9 days of parking permit renewal provided to the neighborhood, I received a very disturbing phone call.

It was from the Director of the Parking Authority, Peter Little.

He said that the folks at SBNA are challenging our "right" to manage Area 30 for the neighborhood.

SBNA has impugned our 501(c)3 status, our organization, our websites, the fact that we do not have a newsletter (frankly cannot afford to spend $400+/month on a newsletter), and myself as the area rep. Our 15+ years of serving the community area does not count.

It would appear that no matter what we have done in the past, it is not good enough.

The Mayor's office has requested that our two organizations "mediate" to resolve this issue.

Please keep us in your thoughts as we move forward into this process. It is for all the residents of Area 30 that we stand to serve, regardless of who, what or where. This is a program to benefit the RESIDENTS, and no one else.

Area 30 is the only area that provides personalized at-your-door help in permit services; the other areas have one yearly renewal and then residents have to go downtown on their own.

That is not and has never been the AREA 30 way. We come to your door to help you when you need it.

We now need your help to keep serving the residents in Area 30 as we have in the past: in an honest and transparent manner.

Your new City Councilman will be William (Bill) Cole. Let him know that we must keep AREA 30 serving the residents.

His number is 410-396-4816 or email him at William.Cole@baltimorecity.gov.

The Director of the Parking Authority is Peter Little @ 443-573-2800.

If we have helped you in the past, now is time to make sure that we continue to help in the future.

Thank you.

Your Area 30 Volunteers

P.S. Area 30 has worked daily to improve parking for RESIDENTS as it is a RESIDENTIAL Parking Program.

Some of our goals/projects have been:

---adjusting hours for better enforcement

---(parking by permit only after 6 PM M-S, 2 PM on Sundays)

---moving renewal to January to minimize stress!

---campaigning continuously for permits to only be issued to legitimate residents

---campaigning daily to remove permits/passes from those who do not qualify for them

---campaigning daily for better enforcement - concentrating enforcement when we need it

---making party passes available when needed- by residents

---working on individual enforcement issues

---working on Parking Advisory Laws

---working actively on the Advisory Board to secure AREA 30 representation downtown

---working to create more AREA 30 parking spaces

---helping residents with the paperwork for their permits and handicap spaces

---attending court for citations issued in eror when residents request

---and daily going downtown for residents SO THEY DON'T HAVE TOO!
